![]() ![]() I think two elements could be usefully exapnded upon in this article.ġ. However the engine itself (not the renderers) remains mostly (completely?) unchanged from 3.20. Anyone with more insight? - Darklock 16:55, 27 March 2006 (UTC) Reply This is correct, the GL for Linux was rewritten quite significantly in 3.21 and the Windows GL renderer was also improved to use a different multitexturing technique. I found this note that suggests that version 3.21 was not just a repackaging. ![]() I mostly keep it on my watchlist to watch for linkspam.- Drat ( Talk) 14:14, 12 March 2006 (UTC) Reply ![]() I haven't really read this article recently. Darklock 13:03, 12 March 2006 (UTC) Reply Whoops. I remember reading somewhere that the only real difference with 3.21 is that there is some change (possibly a re-organisation?) to make it compile better for Linux.- Drat ( Talk) 12:58, 12 March 2006 (UTC) Reply Come on, you can read it in this article, that does not matter though. Darklock 12:53, 12 March 2006 (UTC) Reply 3.20 is the last proper version. In regards to Indie, Spielberg has always been a Hollywood director so I don't know how anyone could be surprised - Indie 5 is guaranteed to make money just because everyone will be watching it just to see if it's better than Indie 4, because if it's not that means they'll be able to go on Twitter and say "nobody asked for this (and Harrison Ford wears Depends!)".Am I blind? I do not see version 3.21 on id Software's FTP, at least not in. If the band experiments with something and it doesn't work out well, the response is always "What the fuck, nobody asked for this! All you had to do was listen to the fans!". If a band goes against the grain and changes their sound into something unexpected but well-recieved, fans will worship them for the fierce and astounding bravery they've shown by saying "fuck the fans/industry/money/fame, we only do what we want". Even if the logic is questionable by normal sane people. Even the ones people don't like or feel they don't "need", one or more persons in a position of power at some point went "Yes, this is an idea that will make money". Fan feedback sometimes will provide impetus for a major creative work like a game or movie, but even if it is a factor it is but one of many. Yeah, I always find the "nobody asked for." comment kind of odd. ![]() Of course we don't know for certain other than there are a few hints that on their own don't mean much but taken as a whole It does point to a remaster of some kind Nightdive is usually supporting quite a bit of different titles at a time with dedicated teams for each project. I don't think q1 remaster patches would interfere significantly with a q2 remaster. There's a few sections that are somewhat vague and could be a spot. I mean, I can't imagine they'll have a section titled "a chat about the new remaster we're releasing" or anything like that. Of course, I've been incredibly and hilariously wrong about Quake announcements before ("Those rumors are bullshit! They wouldn't kick out a new Quake game so soon after Doom 2016.!") so we'll see whether or not my Gift of Prophecy is on the fritz again. So yeah, I'm not expecting to hear anything about a Remaster this week. Patches are still happening, based on comments in the Quake Mapping Discord. I'm not entirely sure either of those is conducive to screaming "hey, it's the one with the strogg! again!" out at the world in a way it'd really take notice of.Īlso, I mean, there's also the bit where they're still working on the Quake 1 Remaster. a lot of wind blowing in that direction (That some people thought pointed towards a full reboot by MachineGames! Silly buggers.)Ģ022's schedule has exactly two scheduled pieces of Id Software on it - a 15-minute intro speech by Marty Stratton (half of which will probably be old b-roll of old QuakeCons while wishing they could do an in-person one again), and a 45-minute 4v4 devs-vs-players Quake 1 sesh. If you go back and look at 2021's schedule, there was a big half-hour long interview scheduled with MachineGames about Quake first thing after the intro speech, another half-hour spot the next day, a music video. I think the big question is, if a Quake 2 Remaster was going to be revealed at QuakeCon, when would it happen? ![]()
